Pasture Raised Poultry

Do you know how your food is raised from the grocery store? Do you know where it is raised? Do you know what it is fed? If you’ve ever asked these questions, you should try a pasture raised chicken from a local farm like us. A place you can visit and see where your food was raised, how it was treated, and the conditions they live in. The chickens we raise are supplied by a local hatchery in Lancaster County, and raised by hand from the very same day they are hatched. Our chickens are brought up in the brooder until they are large enough to go outdoors, about two weeks. We raise our birds in large “hoop coops” that are moved every single day by hand onto a new patch of grass. They never spend more than 24 hours in the same place, way more than can be said about the chickens found at your local grocery store. Our chickens primary feed is produced by a local mill that sources all the grain and ingredients from other local farms, and when we move them to fresh grass, we take their food away and give them extra vegetables from our garden. Our birds aren’t medicated, given any antibiotics or hormones. Those aren’t needed when they are raised like this. Eating one of our chickens will give new meaning to the term “tastes like chicken”. This year we will have chicken available after June 28th. Call us at (717) 417-8139 or email us at info@aislinghillfarm.com for more information.
